Calvin A. Wellington is the owner and expert instructor for Tactical Solutions Agency LLC. As a 16-year veteran with the United States Marine Corps, he served in multiple combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan as a member of one of the Marines' elite units. From the onset of his career in the Marines he received numerous shooting expert awards as a marksmanship, he was appointed to a highly classified security detail (Presidential Guarding) which required a top-secret clearance and provided internal security at designated United States embassies in the Middle East. He traveled to 6 continents and 58 countries proudly serving the United States. He has advanced knowledge in Defensive Tactics Skills, Riot Control, Hand-to-Hand Combat, Weapon Retention, Close Combat, Non-lethal Weapons and Nuclear Biological Chemical Warfare. He was selected from amongst other Marines to instruct FBI agents on close quarter combat and combat shooting skills. He reached the rank of Staff Sergeant and received a Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon with gold stars and letters of commendation. Calvin was honorably discharged in 2016 for medical injuries sustained during combat. Upon retirement he has served as a marksmanship instructor and coach for thousands of Marines and Civilians receiving both Instructor and Coach of the Year recognitions.

In addition to this, he has provided armed, 24/7 protection for a CEO and family, performed threat assessments, supervised and coordinated rules of engagements for two Fortune 500 companies with a 4-member security team. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Maryland, College Park and his master’s degree from Ashworth College in Criminal Justice. He also graduated top of his class from the Virginia Metropolitan Training Academy. He is an instructor from the NRA and Metropolitan Police Department Security Office Management Branch. During his career as the General Manager at Nova Armory, he taught both individuals and security/ law enforcement professionals basic handgun skills and safety, defensive handgun training and self-defense best practices. Upon leaving Nova Armory, Calvin decided to focus on his business, Tactical Solutions Agency LLC, full time. As a black owned business proprietor, his main passion is to equip and prepare his students not only with physical skills, but the mental agility required to perform and utilize the concepts taught in real world scenarios. Calvin remains a student of his craft and consistently seeks training in order to ensure that the course content is of the highest quality and consistently up to date.
